NBTE North-Central Zonal Office
MANDATES OF THE NORTH CENTRAL ZONAL OFFICE
The NBTE Zonal Offices were established based on the approval of the Honorable Minister of Education in July, 2021 as administrative arms of the Board in the six zones of Nigeria. They however started operations in September, 2021. The Zonal Offices were ab initio created to propagate and foster the NBTE mandates and especially skills development.
The North Central Zonal Office is located within the campus of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa. The activities of the North Central Zonal Office cover all the TVET Institutions and stakeholders within Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger States and Abuja Federal Capital Territory.
The key mandates of the North Central Zonal Office are to:
a. Conduct visitations in all the States that are in the North Central Zone and Abuja FCT as may be directed by the Executive Secretary. This shall be achieved by:
i. coordinating all visitations to Institutions within the Zone jointly with the Headquarters;
ii. monitoring and providing details of Institutions that are due for accreditations within the Zone;
iii. collecting and forwarding self -study questionnaires (SSQ) to Headquarters online and ensure prompt delivery;
iv. receiving all requests for Resource Inspection from Institutions and subsequently send them to the Headquarters as much as possible online;
v. forwarding outcome of the accreditation visits to the Headquarters for onward transmission to the Institutions from the Headquarters.
b. Carry out advocacy with stakeholders in the Zone in order to promote skills training and linkages with Industries. This shall be achieved by:
i. Carrying out advocacy visits to Federal, State or Private Institutions for advice on how to mount new TVET programmes;
ii. Developing an action plan for advocacy, encompassing all the peculiarities of the Zone;
iii. Submitting the advocacy action plan to the Headquarters for vetting and approval.
c. Engage Governments at all levels and organized private sector (OPS) to promote skills training in TVET Institutions and upgrade of Technical Colleges to offer national skills qualification (NSQ) training. This shall be achieved by:
i. Taking stock of all TVET Institutions, both public and private;
ii. Coordinating and promoting NBTE skills agenda;
iii. Engaging Governments at all level and organized private sector to establish skills development centres within the six (6) States in the North Central Zone and Abuja FCT.
d. Facilitate training at zonal levels for Polytechnics and other TVET Institutions and up-skilling of staff. This shall be achieved by:
i. Undertaking specific training that are relevant within the Zone and harness their potentials to achieve the desired objectives;
ii. Identifying and advising the Headquarters on new and emerging areas that best suit industries for training;
e. Scout for consultancy services for NBTE Consult Limited within the Zone. This shall be achieved by:
i. Marketing the consultancy services such as construction designs, academic plans, physical development (master) plans, training or workshops etc.
f. Perform any other assignment as may be directed from time to time by the Executive Secretary.
Structure of the North Central Zonal Office
The organizational structure of the Zonal Office includes:
i. Office of the Zonal Director: It coordinates the execution of the mandates of the Zonal Office and supervises all the staff in the Zonal Office.
ii. Finance and Accounts Section: This section performs the functions of the Finance & Accounts Department of the Headquarters in the Zonal Office.
iii. Human Resources Section: This section performs the functions of the Human Resources Department of the Headquarters in the Zonal Office.
iv. Programmes Section: This section performs the functions of the Programmes Departments (Polytechnic, Monotechnic and Vocational, Technical & Skills Development) of the Headquarters in the Zonal Office.
